c000021a {fatal system error} 0xc0000034

Hello

I went to start up my inspiron 6000 as usual and a blue screen with the following came up:
c000021a {fatal system error} 0xc0000034 (0x00000000 0x00000000)

I've looked at some other posts and they recommend doing the f12 thing when Dell starts up, but when i do that and select boot from my xp CD, it doesn't give me an option to go into recovery, or reinstall or anything, it just goes back to the windows page (with the little green worm thing) and then straight back to the blue screen with the error on it.

So basically, i have no idea what to do ... any hints (preferably which also preserved all my data)?

Thanks in advance.

Hi, make sure you have selected boot from CD as it should normally come up with: boot from cd

i press "F12" when the Dell logo comes up and it takes me to a menu - Press "enter" to attempt to boot or "esc" to cancel:

Internal HDD

CD/DVD/CD-RW Drive

Carbus NIC

Onboard NIC

BIOS Setup

Diagnostics

I select "CD/DVD/CD-RW Drive, but rather than launch the WIndows Setup (which i have encountered before), it starts up Windows, does the green worm thing, then goes back to the error screen.

thanks anyway
