i read that the 8400 uses the 925x chipset which, according to the site i looked at, supports 64bit CPUs. So should it work with them if a 64bit OS comes out in the future?
the motherboard on the 8400 is ccompatible with 64-bit extensions. but the processors that are currently shipping with the 8400 are not. in the future, if you have enough quad, u can consider buying intel 660 that is capable of 64-bit processing.
No, its Windows XP Professional x64 Edition which is built on WIndows 2003 code. Longhorn is the sucessor to XP and 2003. Not out til about end of 2006/early 2007
I've had x64 installed on my 8400 for about 2 weeks now. Running very stable. The only drivers missing are actually connected to the ATI x600 video card I have installed which wasn't part of the 8400. The sound drivers were the only ones not in XP x64 natively and they can be found by looking under the precision 370 drivers on the dell site.
Now if everything else would get 64bit drivers. Dell Laser Printer 1600n.
My DJ works cause i have the playforsure firmware. Don't think there are drivers for the dell dj firmware.

Also, there is no operating system support for 64 bit processors.
Maybe not back on March 23 but there is now.
