dell inspiron n5010 brightness issue

Question

Hi Can anybody please tell me about how to resolve brightness issue of dell inspiron n5010. I have been using my laptop for a period of one year and yet now not found any solution about it. I had installed a vedio driver from dell website and it adjusted brightness, but beside controlling brightness it has also changed overall display of my window. I want that previous window 7 display back with brightness adjustment. Please can anyone provide me a valuable suggestion, I am very much tired with this brightness problem .

Hi Sarah Immi,

Welcome to the Community.

Have you tried updating the BIOS for the system, if not please try updating the BIOS and after that uninstall the driver and the Supporting utility from the installed software. Install the latest driver along with the software and also install the Quickset application as well.

When you install the driver and the supporting software utility for video, once you right click on the desktop you will be able to use the software to change the display settings.

You can use the key combination Fn + F4 and Fn +F5 In order to decrease and increase the Brightness. And once you have the Quickset application installed you will be able to see the display of brightness adjustment.

I have installed the quick set application and also updated the BIOS still the keys F3 and F4 are not adjusting brightness. They are showing the brightness levels but when i press them they make no difference and brightness remains the same. I have updated Bios of system from A10 to A15 also quick set is updated, but the problem is that the keys are not working. The brightness is too sharp and is effecting battery badly
