dividing WAV file into four smaller WAV files
While I can use Gmail to send about 10 MB attachment and have done so for two lectures recorded digitally as WAV, I now have a third WAV which is over 40 MB and it looks like Gmail "chokes" when I request the attach (to Send). What kind of tool (if any) am I able to use to create four (or more) standalone WAV files each of which may fit within the 10 MB (or so) size limit?
Our situation is that a graduate student with both knees / legs in rehabilitation is having lectures recorded and wants them sent to him in another state (from Virginia to the other side of Maryland).

I have a music 30.2 WAV file and it is 3.8 in MP3. When you did the conversion did you have the source box set as Wav and in the other box MP3 from the pull down menu? Also there is a slider for the bit rate.

In addition, there are freeware audio editors available.

File size in general is dependent on the MP3 bitrate used during the conversion. Which bitrate did you use?
If you have iTunes, it will also convert to MP3.
