"dsca.exe"

Hi Guys,

I recently purchased a new Inspiron desktop. All is well other than, having installed all the software I need, on every boot-up I get the error message "dsca.exe failed to initialise". I can click "o.k." to get rid of it, then the p.c. starts up & runs as normal.

I can't pin down exactly when this error messgae started appearing in relation to the various software I've installed - all I can say is that I've used all of the software before with no problems.

I believe this is a system file so obviously can't delete it - any help in getting rid of the problem would be appreciated.

Regards,
Dave

A google search indicates a large number of hits on this file, indicating a problem associated with DVD Clone Studio.  You might try removing that software and see if the problem goes away.

Hi,

Many thanks for that - I did install some DVD software but not sure if it was that one. I'm at work at present so not able to check but will do so later and report back.

Regards,
Dave

Hi,

I've checked my computer and I did, a few weeks ago, download a couple of DVD copying programs. I've uninstalled them now and the offending file Oxc0000135 or 0xc0000135 has disappeared. It was originally in C:\i386.

However, I am still getting the error message on booting so assume there is still a reference to it somewhere in the startup menu. Any ideas on how to clear that would be greatly appreciated.

Regards,
Dave

Further update:

I've located the "offending" file. It's simply called "dsca" and it's location is c:\Dell\dsca

If I click on the icon I get exactly the same error message.

Wondering if I can safely delete this file ?

Your further advice would be much appreciated.

Regards,
Dave

Hi Europa303,

Just to say I think I may have now sorted out this problem thanks to you pointing me in the right direction. I haven't had the opportunity to check as I'm at work but after your advice I re-checked the forum and it appears that it may well be Dell Support Centre which is causing the problem.

Thanks very much for your help

Best regards,
Dave
