vista and acad2006 compatibility?

When can Acad 2006 can be installed on Vista  (my salesman
james wilkerson said patch should be available at the end of March)?
I bought this VistaOS instead of XPPro on faith that it would be hereby now.

According to the autodesk site the Autocad 2007 and 2008
will work .. the 2007 will have an update patch coming out
soon for Vista .. No mention of a patch for Autocad 2006 so
I would say It Will Not Work on Vista

Issue

You want to know if Windows Vista™ supports AutoCAD® or AutoCAD LT®.

Solution

AutoCAD® 2008, scheduled for a March 2007 release, is compatible with the 32-bit and 64-bit versions of Windows Vista™ Home Basic, Home Premium, Ultimate, Business and Enterprise. AutoCAD LT® 2008, also scheduled for release in March, is compatible with the 32-bit versions of Windows Vista Home Basic, Home Premium, Ultimate, Business and Enterprise.

There will be an AutoCAD 2007 and AutoCAD LT 2007 update released shortly that adds support for Windows Vista 32-bit versions.

AutoCAD 2007 only works is you run it as administrator. I haven't tried 2008 yet.

I have AutoCAD 2006 LT running on Vista Business.  My scenario may not be the same as yours.  I ordered my 640m with XP because Vista was not available yet so I had 2006 already installed.  After upgrading to Vista, I had to set the ACLT.EXE file to run in XP SP/2 Compatibility mode for the program to start.  So far, it seems to work fine.  Not sure if trying to install 2006 on machine with Vista will work.  Have not tried that.

Best of luck.
