windows 7 upgrade and the XPS M1330
hello,
I would like to know if an upgrade to windows 7 will be available for my xps M1330 ?
I see that the studio xps 13 has the possibility to upgrade to windows 7.
but the xps M1330 is no more available in some countries, so on october 22, the xps M1330 will no longer appear on dell sites with windows 7 installed ?
what's the point for xps M1330,M1530 or M1730 users and windows 7 ? is DELL going to allow an upgrade to windows 7 for xps vista users ?
vista aero is so slow, xps users need windows 7, the new aero is very fast even with a little 8400M GS.

You can upgrade any computer running Vista. If you mean the free upgrade, that only applies to computers bought June 26th or later. That is what MS allows. Computers bought on June 25th and before will not get the free upgrade but can purchase it themselves. There should be more sales and promotions in October. The $50 preorder promotion has ended, but who knows what will happen by Oct.?

no in fact i dont talk about the free upgrade or the promotion offer but just the possibility to upgrade to windows 7 from vista by paying the price
it cost. my vista DVD home premium is a DELL home premium, so i wonder if it will be posible to buy a DELL DVD upgrade for windows 7.
i bought a vista license with my dell, so i just wanted to know if it will be possible to pay for a dell license upgrade for windows 7.
but i see there's an OEM activation way, and the xps studio bios has the SLP 2.1 that will allow dell to sell it pre-installed.
the xpsM1330 bios is SLP 2.0 that is for vista pre-installed.
so i guess if no new bios will allow the xpsM to get preinstalled windows 7, there will be no upgrade available.

You don't need a Dell upgrade disc to upgrade to Win7. Just purchase the Win7 Upgrade version of your choice and install.The only issue will be if you decide to go from 32bit Vista to 64bit Win7. If going to 64bit Win7 you will need to do a clean install on Win7 64bit. You cannot, for technical reasons, upgrade an existing 32bit OS to 64bit OS.
