windows is unable to find a system volume that meets its criteria for installation"

hi ,looking for some help please after messing about for 5 hours now!!!

Was running Vista on my dell xps420. I bough the win7 version today and went to install. I wasn't aware i could do an inplace upgrade and well cutting a long story short formatted my drive.:emotion-42:

I have then tried to reload vista but get the following error windows is unable to find a system volume that meets its criteria for installation"

I have searched the net for ideas on how to solve this, and well after following the one of formating all drives, creating new ones then formatting agian, still has not made this to work.

Has anyone got any ideas at all please as i am at my wits end in trying to solve this

Have you installed the storage driver?  Try this:

<ADMIN NOTE: Broken link has been removed / replaced from this post by Dell>

Otherwise:

Are you installing from USB or DVD?  If DVD, do you have a USB key inserted?

Do you have more than one drive configured in RAID?
