ThinOS 8.1 Firmware not working with FTP server
Greetings all
I have two different thin clients here: a 3040 running ThinOS 8.4_105 and a Dx0D running ThinOS 8.3_012.
My goal was to provide FTP provisioning in the absence of WDM or a pure VDI solution due to cost restrictions, and because we're only deploying maybe ten of these devices. While the FTP provisioning works for the 3040, it fails miserable on the Dx0D for reasons I can't quite understand. The symptom is very similar to the one outlined in this post: https://www.dell.com/community/Wyse-ThinOS/ThinOS-8-1-Firmware-not-working-with-FTP-server/m-p/5049457#M2470 however, the solutions provided aren't working. To add to what was illustrated here, when the Dx0D boots and arrives at the point in configuration where it attempts to contact the FTP server, after a few seconds it will prompt for credentials. When I check the logs on the FTP server, it's definitely not receiving any traffic from this host. Because my architecture works on another thin client, and I can FTP to the server from virtually every other client in the building, I'm leaning on this being a problem specific to either this thin client or this version of ThinOS.
The ThinOS version disparity struck me, but I can't make heads or tails of the Dell Wyse downloads site, since this Dx0D seems to have about seven different model numbers to reference and none of them give me what I want through support.
Could anyone provide me with some insight on this matter?

From the ThinOS 8.4_009 Release notes:
Security enhancements: Firmware signature
In ThinOS v8.4 release, firmware signature verification is added to enhance firmware security. New INI parameter is introduced to allow downgrade from ThinOS v8.4 firmware to earlier versions.
To know how to downgrade from ThinOS v8.4 using the new INI parameter VerifySignature=no, see INI parameters and Troubleshooting.
Unfortunately I cannot attach the document, but it is available in the Digital Locker.
