Can Blue-ray Drive Burn M Discs?

Just received my XPS 8930 with optional blu-ray optical drive. I upgraded to the blue-ray drive after being assured by the sales rep on the phone that it would burn M discs. My question (before I purchase blank media) is: will this drive really burn M discs?

Thanks in advance for the help!

Download/install the free CDIdentifier utility here. Check it to see if it will show the capabilities of the optical drive. If yes, post a picture of the results.

Jeff, was the optional blu-ray drive included in your XPS 8930 capable of burning M-disc blu-rays?  How about BDXL blu-ray dics?  (BDXL are the ones that can store 100 GB).  Please post what you found...

From my understanding of what I just read, M-Disc is a type of BluRay/DVD disc that is formatted the same as a standard burnable DVD/BluRay, but formulated for archival purposes so in theory any drive should be able to burn M-Disc

I have a blu-ray drive that has M-Disc capability and it has a logo that actually says M-Disc.  I believe that this would probably be mentioned somewhere (even in the product description) and if it doesn't, then it probably doesn't support M-Disc (it's a different writing method that actually engraves into the disc).  So although some BDXL drives may support M-disc, I'm not sure if ALL BDXL drives support M-disc.  That's why I was wondering if there was anyone with actual experience owning one would be able to say.  Jeff, the original poster, what did you find?
