XPS 8500, GTX 1650 problem

Question

My Bios Version Are A05, Bios Mode Is UEFI.

When I Try Equip GTX 1650 On It And Turn On PC, It Play Beep Sound, After Some Try, It Turned On So Installed Driver And Restarted PC, But Nothing Changed, I Think Its Because Of My Bios Version Are Too Old.

So I Decided To Buy Other Graphics Card, But I Don't Know Which Graphics Card Would Support The A05 Bios

System Of PC:
GPU: Nvidia Geforce GT 640
CPU: Intel Core i7-3770
RAM: 12GB
SSD: 222GB
PSU: 460W

You Think It Would Work On My PC?, Also I Heard That Legacy Bios Wont Work On GTX 1650, I Don't Know Which Are My Bios Mode.

Did you look for and connect the 6-pin PSU connector? That would be the easy solution...

I tend to doubt this is a BIOS issue. The latest BIOS for XPS 8500 is A14 (2018), and you're using A05 (2012) so that's pretty old. Update BIOS entirely at your own risk...

Is your card new or used? Could it be a bum card?

The GTX 1650 appears to require a 6-pin power connection directly from the PSU. Did you connect that extra power cable from the PSU, assuming the XPS 8500 PSU has that cable? It may be hidden under/behind the PSU if your current GT 640 card doesn't use that extra power connector so look around for it.

According to userbenchmark.com lots of users installed a GTX 1650S (Super) in the XPS 8500 and it works. And, you can also see what other videos cards users say work in the XPS 8500 at that site too.

GTX 750 Ti has been validated in XPS 8950. The bios was dated 20220210 so it may be an old version. it is definitely a version older than 1.50 (Aug 2022) because the user benchmark was uploaded in July 2022.

it may not be an old bios version causing your issue. some 8500 users had validated GTX 1650 running old bios dated 20120905. that may be old bios A09. you could try update bios from A05 (May 2012) to A09 (Sept 2012) but I doubt that would solve the issue.

The GTX 750 Ti was user validated in the XPS 8500: here: https://www.userbenchmark.com/UserRun/49118129 If your GTX 70 Ti is a Dell OEM card I don't know if it will work.

Wife's XPS8500 has a 2GB HD7700 in it.

There are some available now with even larger GB's on it.

If you get the HD 7770 from this site, https://hwbench.com/vgas/geforce-gt-640-vs-radeon-hd-7770-ghz-edition , it appears you'd double the performance...

A14 BIOS is installed though.

The card may just be a dud, even if bought new. So you may want to contact the place where you bought it...
