XPS 8700, Windows 10 Brownout and Freezes

For those who follow.

For months I've been living with 2 minute disk imposed 'brown outs' with my 8700 since I upgraded to Windows 10. The symptoms where seen in the Task Manager. The OS disk would show 100% disk activity with no I/O except for a short burst of under 100 KB/s every 13 or so seconds.

I disabled all RAID components and disconnected the SSD drive from working with the Seagate 2TB main drive. So I was dealing with the drive alone and not using any of the performance features of the Intel Rapid Storage Technology controller.

The Seagate Diagnostic tool did not show any problems with the drive that came with the desktop I purchased in 2014. The only hint of a problem in the Windows Event Manager was an event 129 'Disk Reset' sometimes. No problems reported during the brownout except for longer than normal write times reported in some events.

I finally bought a new Western Digital drive and cloned the Seagate. This solved my problem.
