XPS 8700, onboard graphics

@Tyler Corrington I thought you said you could not get the new monitor to work on the DisplayPort. I asked the manufacturer and model of your monitor so I could check if there were some setup settings the monitor required in order to get DIsplayPort to work.

I doubt onboard graphics can support 144 Hz, even via DisplayPort, on a 4th Gen Intel CPU.

Go here and follow the instructions to identify your specific CPU and then use that info to determine the max supported resolution for the onboard Intel Graphics.  I doubt it's going to be more than 60 Hz, even using DP.

Ok, it seems I won't be able to achieve 144Hz with my new monitor using onboard graphics due to my processor. I didn't see any intel processors that could support 144Hz. I will probably settle with 120Hz for now and upgrade my gpu. Thank you to all who helped! 

@Vic384  Freesync is not available to change. I see it in settings and it is grey like I cannot change it. I switched monitor from 120Hz to 60Hz and still can't change it.

@Tyler Corrington The onboard graphics cannot do FreeSync. Did you set FreeSync to Off? I assume for Input Select you set it to DP.

@Vic384 I reset it, still no luck. It's okay, I'm currently looking for a graphics card upgrade so I don't need to worry about the onboard port.

@Tyler Corrington That is strange that you cannot change the FreeSync setting. The manual implies that the setting can be On or Off. You could try OSD Reset to reset the On-Screen Display settings. 

Freesync is probably greyed out because it's not supported by onboard Intel HD Graphics so it doesn't matter what the setting appears to be, because ON is probably the default setting, when supported.

If you want to use Freesync, you have to make sure whichever video card, either AMD or NVidia, supports both 144 Hz + Freesync. And check the monitor specs to see  what its adaptive range is.

Also keep in mind that the XPS 8700 has a stock 460W PSU which may reduce the number of 144 Hz + Freesync cards that will work without upgrading the PSU too.

@Tyler Corrington The graphics card you selected requires a 6-pin supplementary power connector. Make sure your power supply has one of those.

The description only mentions G-Sync and vertical sync, but not Freesync. Does your monitor support G-Sync and vertical sync, assuming you want/need those or only supports Freesync?

The description doesn't mention 144 Hz support or the Hz for the card's max 7680x4320 resolution...

I was wondering the same thing as @RoHe, but the monitor's manual does state, "If you are using Nvidia GTX 10series or RTX20series graphic cards, you can use Adaptive-Sync (FreeSync) function. This requires Nvidia’s latest GPU updates."

I don't know why graphics card manufacturers make it so hard to find the graphics modes supported, but an Internet search found that the GTX 1650 Super does support 144 Hz at 1080p which is the native resolution of the Pixio PX247 monitor.

I installed a GeForce gtx 1650 super overclocked edition and it was a great upgrade. Achieved my goal of 144Hz and can play any game on high graphics. Thanks for help everyone.
