XPS 8900, AMD R9 380X not working?
Purchased an AMD R9 380X for my XPS 8900. It doesn't boot with this card, but does with my Nvidia GTX 1080. How can I make it work? Do I need to pre-install some drivers? It is the Power Color Mystic edition. Both cards work in other PCs. My BIOS is at the highest level, just updated.

Reboot and immediately press F2 to open BIOS setup.
You may have to turn Secure Boot off, CSM on, and Legacy Option ROM on
Don't change anything else, but be sure to save the new settings before exiting setup.

Also, check with Power Color. I think the minimum PSU (power supply unit) requirement is 500w for their retail AMD R9 380X. The XPS 8900 460w PSU may not be enough. The Dell OEM Nvidia GTX 1080 is validated with our OEM 460w PSU.

@speedstep says the reason newer AMD R-series video cards don't run in older machines is because they don't support VESA-Mode-103 .

The AMD R9 GCN3 (graphics core next) series should still function in Windows 10? But he is correct, the user would not be able to boot into the BIOS on these older systems because the Dell BIOS requests this non-supported resolution at interrupt 10. There are reports that MSI may have addressed this with their AMD R9 GCN3 video cards with the installation of Afterburner.
