XPS 8900 Intel Rapid Storage Technology crashes
I have an xps 8900, Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-6700 CPU 3.40GHz 3.41 GHz, 16.0 GB ram, 64-bit operating system, x64-based processor, and dual monitors - both of which are plugged into the nvidia graphics card with hdmi and dvi cables.
I've been having issues with one monitor occasionally going black and coming back on as well as random crashes every few months. This latest crash happened with one monitor going black, the other freezing, and a loud buzzing noise coming from my headset. Then my computer restarted. The error codes from that night are below. It looks like intel rapid storage is stopped in the task manager, and even with turning it on and going into services to make it automatically start, it never actually runs. Is there a corrupt driver, do I have a hardware issue, or should I simply uninstall the intel rapid storage? Or is it a graphics issue maybe?

Thanks for the reply,
I don't have an ssd, only the original hdd so what would you recommend I do?

not sure if Intel rapid storage is the actual culprit of your monitor issue, but it is easy to test.
Dell IRS is designed when there is a small ssd and a large hdd and Dell default uses RAID 0 (stripping) to speed up read. if you do not care about reinstalling OS you can remove the hdd from pc, then disable IRS in bios, followed by a clean OS install in ssd. see if monitor crash still occurs or not.

In that case you really do not need IRS. Go inside BIOS to change sata operation from RAID (Dell default) to AHCI. do a clean install of OS on the hdd. then observe over time whether issue goes away.
