XPS 8910, PSU upgrade, #12

Question

So my 8910 power supply died last week and I'm searching for a replacement. After looking for days on this board I still can't seem to figure out what to get. Dell doesn't have my information saved and my Xps won't power up, so I don't know the exact specs, but I purchased in 9/2017. It's an i-core 7 with a lower end graphics card (Nvidia 560 or 570) and I use primarily for graphic design, not gaming. The life span of new/refurbished or used Dell OEM psu is unpredictable. I have owned many original Dell OEM psu. The majority are still working after 9-10 years and a few died.
To be sure of having 3+ year life you can consider non OEM 460w ATX psu from reputable brand name such as EVGA. Here is one that has 3 year warranty. Pretty sure EVGA psu lasts much longer than 3 yrs. It is on sale on Amazon for only $30 now, a good deal.

not heard of this brand but price is too much for something to last you just a while. Why not get a preowned XPS 8300/8500/8700/8900 psu 460w. Dimension of these Dell OEM XPS psu is standard ATX, same as 8910 psu, and they fit 8910 case. They are inexpensive around $20-30 free shipping on eBay sometimes.

brand new Dell 460w psu for 8910 is just $45.

I would consider an original refurbished model from a known Dell supplier for a reasonable price--Refurbished Dell OEM XPS 8910 Desktop Power Supply XD17F (parts-people.com).

That would be a safer choice with the same specs as your original psu. Your model is not on the list for upgrading to Windows 11.

Good point, as windows 10 won't be updated at some point. I guess refurbished would be good for a few years and less money spent. I will look into this option too. Thanks for the information.

I was thinking about that, but had read articles saying that those units could go bad quickly, so wasn't sure. I would like to get 3+ years out of what I've got because I don't need anything more as of yet. Maybe an Oem would suit my needs- I don't want to waste money.
