No guarantees, but it might be related to Windows recent update KB4482887 which MS is suggesting users uninstall if there are problems after this update was installed. Though most issues related to the update appear to be with video and mouse while gaming.

Read this. Microsoft is releasing a fix for that update, so you might want to wait until the fix gets installed, rather than removing the update that's already installed.

NOTE: If you decide to uninstall this update, manually set a System Restore point and back up all your personal files first, to be safe, and then follow the instructions carefully on that page.

And like I said, no guarantees removing (fixing) that update restores your audio...

EDIT: Just for clarification, did you mean an update that was installed in last few days or did you recently update all of Win 10 to build 1809 ("Fall Update") from an earlier version of Windows 10?

UPDATE:

It turns out that Windows Update KB4482887 together with update KB4489899 probably caused your audio problems. Read more here and at links on that page.

Don't know if there's a fix yet so you might want to uninstall one or both of those to see if you get your audio back. But back up and set a Restore Point first, to be safe.

If you don't already have them, update all the chipset drivers for Win 10, listed here first, and then install this updated audio driver.

Didint work 1 of the chipsets called  Device Software Driver would get stuck around 75% and then my wifi turns off :(

use ethernet, wired. wifi is fragile, use ethernet to install windows or do service.

turn off MS automatic with W10 updates, driver updates, or suffer like this. (gpedit  done)

use only the dell drivers for sound. IMO

MS does not say certify every pc made nor for sure your Realtek, chip driver, for say 1809 updates.

they do not  make us lab rats. (or worse)

also you can delay updates, major or 6 months , so that the REALTEK hassles are ironed out.

or block driver update, like me. (w10 is joy this way, no>?)

Realtek has a problem with Driver Certificates and Malware. All previous Driver Certificates are now considered to be false and malware because of certificate revocation by Microsoft.

There is no one size fits all Realtek driver for ALL XPS MODELS for ALL YEARS FOR ALL OS.

so how do i fix this?

Ok so this is what i found out if i uninstalll and reinstall realtek audio it will work ONLY if i leave a song/video on, if i utrn it off it willl stop working again :(
