XPS 8930, compatible with i5-9600KF?

@McKrizzles The XPS 8930 Setup and Specifications indicates it supports 8th generation Intel CPUs but the i5-9600KF is 9th generation. My research also indicates that BIOS version 1.1.3 updated the BIOS to support the i5-9600K. So it appears that the i5-9600K should work if your BIOS is version 1.1.3 or newer, so if you updated to the latest BIOS (version 1.1.15) you should be OK. The problem may be because of the difference between the i5-9600K and the i5-9600KF, the KF version does not have integrated graphics and that is why it may not work. The XPS 8930 motherboard/BIOS supports integrated graphics and I am not sure what happens if the CPU does not have that feature.

@McKrizzles  - XPS 8930 is compatible with 9th Gen CPUs. The online docs are just out-of-date. My XPS 8930 came with a stock i7-9700 CPU and BIOS v1.1.11, updated several times since then, and now has BIOS v1.1.15.

Exactly what does "wouldn't function" mean? PC won't power on, turns on but doesn't boot, freezes...? Be specific.

What color is the power button and steady or blinking when PC doesn't "function"? If it's blinking, count the blinks and look up the error code in the Service Manual.

Did you clean the bottom of the heat sink to remove old thermal paste and apply a thin, fresh coat of decent thermal paste to top of CPU before reattaching the heat sink? If you didn't, the CPU, especially a "k" version, would rapidly overheat and shut things down. No offense, but did you seat it fully in the socket without bending any pins?

Did you double-check all the cable connections to the motherboard?

Did you reset BIOS after the CPU swap by removing the motherboard battery and pressing/holding power button for ~30 sec before reinstalling the battery? BTW: Is it time for a fresh CR2032 battery?

Did you connect the monitor to the add-in video card, assuming you have an add-in card, not to either of the onboard Intel Graphics ports since the "f" CPU doesn't have onboard Intel Graphics?

I had applied the thermal paste correctly and seated the fan correctly. 
Upon pressing the power button to test if the computer would boot, (I didnt have a monitor or anything connected, it was just a boot test to see if the computer would turn on)
The PSU would click to turn on then immediately click again powering off, all fans and mother board components would turn, GPU included. the system just would turn on and stay on

As far as the battery and other mentioned items i didnt touch what i had no idea to do with so i just swapped out the CPU, applied paste and seated the fan, plugged in everything that was plugged into the mother board before the change and tried to boot

So you're trying to boot this PC "headless" (no monitor connected)?? That might explain everything...

And read the XPS 8930 service manual  about removing/replacing the battery. BIOS may still be looking for the old CPU, so unless you force it to re-scan the hardware by removing the battery and pressing/holding the power button for ~30 sec, it may not see the new CPU correctly.
