This makes me wonder if I ordered the incorrect bracket. Using that same part number, I ordered this part, which appears to be black plastic and looks slightly different.

This fan seems to match the metal bracket mount that you mentioned. The part number on it also matches.

@RJS5689 It appears that the bracket you ordered is for installing a fan in the front of the case. This post has pictures of what the 92 mm and 120 mm top fan brackets look like https://www.dell.com/community/XPS-Desktops/XPS-8930-possible-to-install-a-front-case-fan/td-p/5894027/page/4

It's odd that the part number supplied in previous threads for the top fan bracket also pulls up results for the front fan bracket.

I've gone ahead and placed an order for this as well. I can use the other bracket to install an additional fan in the front of the XPS.

"I also ordered the 7M0F5 bracket (and fan) from an R5/6/7 to go with it."

According to the Dell internal SPMD (Spare Parts Master Database), all of those sites are incorrect.
