XPS 8930, ethernet network stopped working
So I powered up my trusty 8930 this morning and found that it suddenly no longer seems to have Ethernet connectivity. Last worked properly yesterday and no updates were done since powering off. Most recent update was to the BIOS last weekend but the machine was stable and worked without issue all week. I don't see a setting in the BIOS for enabling/disabling the ethernet port and I also went ahead and uninstalled all the Killer network software to see if that might help. No joy as of yet.
Has anyone else come across this issue and if so what did you do to resolve? I did also look in Device manager and there does not seem to be an entry for an Ethernet adapter, just the wireless and Bluetooth hardware.
Additional information.. tried swapping ports on the router and no change, so it seems to point to a hardware issue on the machine.

So I went through the Killer software uninstall routine and then installed the driver only for the card. As of this morning, the ethernet port is now functioning again. Very strange, but pleased nonetheless. Thanks to everyone for the ideas.

Did you check the ethernet cable at both ends? Ethernet connection is not a device and doesn't show up in Device Manager.

I believe that the XPS 8930 has a Killer Gigabit Ethernet Controller and uses a Killer PCIe Ethernet Controller driver. You should see the driver in Device Manager under the Network adapters.

Hence, the first thing to check is to see if it has become "accidentally" disabled!

You are correct that it is the Killer PCi Ethernet adapter. It was NOT showing up in the Device manager, but your comment caused me to think to go to the Killer site and clean up the software/driver. As of this morning I seem to be back in business.

Yes I replaced with a known good cable with no change in outcome.

Good idea! I did not have any connection issues, but I did the same early on and have not missed the Killer Control Center.

I had this problem yesterday. I eliminated the cable and router as causes. Then I opened the case, pulled the processor card from the motherboard, and reseated the card. Ethernet started working again.
