XPS 8930, regarding when the next BIOS version becomes offered

These few suggestions may help the community of users when the new BIOS version is offered and before all the threads and comments begin to post. At least consider to include information when posting such as:

a). Any addition(s) and replacement(s) of factory hardware

b). Current SATA controller setting

c). How the BIOS update was performed, e.g, flashing the BIOS via the F12 menu w/ a USB stick, Windows Update, etc.

Another suggestion for those who may not own another PC is to copy a BIOS 1.1.26 .rcv file on a Fat32 formatted USB now. This will prepare in the event of something that does go wrong in the next BIOS version update.

This thread will likely be buried beneath so many other threads by the release of the next BIOS version that it won’t be seen.

But maybe some will be afforded with making an informed decision for leveraging the risk of updating to the next new version by reading the changes performed by users on their factory configurations which are similar to changes made on their current hardware configuration.

I don't think Dell will be sharing the root-cause(s) of what occurred with 1.1.27. And once the new version is released, there is going to be lots of threads, questions and concerns posted, that's for sure.

Hi @Anonymous welcome to this free user-to-user discussion forum.

Installing the Dell XPS 8930 System BIOS | Driver Details | Dell US  'Updating the BIOS from Windows' has very specific Installation instructions. Download XPS8930_1.1.26.exe file onto your drive, verify the file checksum value using the Free MD5 & SHA Checksum Utility or similar utility, then Run as Administrator to install. Never try to install BIOS over the internet.

XPS 8930 Storage says there is M.2 slot for SSD (SATA or PCIe/NVMe). The OS (C:) boot drive should be installed on up to 4TB, ultrafast M.2 2280 Gen4.0 x4 NVMe card with the modern GPT partition format so that BIOS boot list option UEFI is enabled.
