XPS 8940, 360W PSU underpowered?

Question

I am waiting on delivery of a new XPS 8940

In reading many reviews and feedback in the Dell Community, I’m worried that the 360PSU with the 360W Night Sky Bezel Chassis including optical drive Is going to be underpowered?

The configuration ordered includes:

11th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-11700K processor (8-Core, 16M Cache, 3.6GHz to 5.0GHz)

16GB, 2x8GB, DDR4, 2933Mhz
512GB M.2 PCIe NVMe Solid State Drive + 2TB 7200RPM Hard Drive
NVIDIA(R) GeForce(R) GTX 1660 SUPER(TM) 6GB GDDR6
BDRE Drive (Reads and Writes to Blu-Ray disks)

And I am hopping to add:

1TB Samsung 970 EVO MVMeM.2 V-NAND SSD
1TB 3.5-inch SATA Hard Drive
Will have 2 Monitors
1 Blue Tooth Printer
2 USB Printer
1 Scanner
USB Hub
Western Digital MYCLOUD 2

Based on the information I see, this hardware configuration with the 360 Watt Power Supply will be underpowered?

I am also considering adding a 1 or 2 internal fans to help temperature if needed.

I tried to get a price to upgraded PSU to 500 Watts, but can not find it.

Based on the configuration, would you suggest the more powerful PSU? And what would the price be to do this upgrade? ASAP?

I will have the old PSU from my Current Desktop, the XPS 8900.
Will the Model AC460AM-00 be compatible, and hove sufficient power for config?

Please advise on any suggestions on what I can / should do?

8940 uses Dell proprietary 6/4/4 pin TFX psu. This is partially incorrect.

DELL proprietary is NOT TFX and a TFX unit will not FIT.

8940 Power supply is SMALLER THAN TFX which you can see by looking at the rear where the power supply is mounted. The other issue is that TFX12V power supplies combined output of the +3.3VDC and +5VDC rails is less than 61W. This does not meet the bare miniumum 140W required by dell. All of these specifcations are clearly documented. Power supplies are not a single rail or a single spec of WATTS.

8900 uses standard 24/4 pin ATX psu. 8940 uses Dell proprietary 6/4/4 pin TFX psu. Therefore 8900 psu is not compatible with 8940.

Basic online psu calculator: i7-11700k, 16 gb, 1 sata ssd, 2 hdd, BD, GTX 1660Ti

Load Wattage: 361 W
Recommended PSU Wattage: 411 W

GeForce GTX 1660 SUPER has 4% more power consumption, than GeForce GTX 1660 Ti. (125w TDP vs 120w)

Dell config of 1 nvme ssd+ 1 hdd is close. 360w psu is borderline okay for load but short of recommendation.

Load Wattage: 353 W
Recommended PSU Wattage: 403 W

Load Wattage is the maximum wattage the system may consume in a typical real-world scenario such as running a modern 3D game with the majority of PC components operating at maximum load (CPU, RAM, Drives, etc.). Important: Load Wattage is not the absolute maximum wattage of the system. Various synthetic benchmarks may increase power consumption above Load Wattage levels.

PS Monitor printer etc. do not require more power.

The Dell psu will be fine if you are not changing the video card to a high powered card that requires a larger psu.

Check the power requirements for anything you want to add to make sure you don't overload the computer.

No hear me out... you are dead wrong and allcaps doesn’t make your preconceived ideas any more true.

The PCIE rail on the 360EBM power supply feeds 18A, whicb is more than enough to cover the 125w that it needs at 12v. A 6pin to 8pin adaptor still is enough to cover the 150w if it ever came to that, but J’m using a SATA to 6pin adaptor to cover some extra ground into a dual 6pin to 8pin to connect my card! Never failed me.

I just came across your post. I've just bought a new 8940, arrived yesterday. Similar spec to yours. According to the Dell packing list, it has a 500W PSU as standard, described as:

500W Black Bezel Chassis inc ODD
Regulatory Label for 500W
