XPS 8940, BIOS 2.13.1?

I had been holding off on updating my BIOS on my XPS 8940 to 2.12.0. Today I went to download the .exe file for that update and I found an even newer version 2.13.1 dated June 9th. So is this latest BIOS a fix for something Dell messed up with 2.12.0?

The description lists both as security updates and not "something Dell messed up".

I did take it down and installed it, it is for the 8940.

This is what it shows as replaced by the Update:

Basically the Embedded Controller was updated, usually where the Security changes are made.

There are 2 more lines, but they are both the save versions in V2.12.0 and V2.13.1.

I did see your post in another thread. Doubt you'd get a definitive answer, and to the best of my knowledge, there were no problems on V2.12.0 BIOS, at least not on my Nvidia powered 8940.

Interesting....

Just today, Support Assist ran and it said I had an Update... but it was the OS Support Assist OS Recovery Tool. It FAILED, so I ran the Update part again, found nothing...

It did miss the New BiOS though?

So I just ran Dell Update:

No Updates, and I'm on 2.12.0?

So I went to the Support page and let it search for any updates:

Nope, none there either?

So I looked at the list MANUALLY, sure enough, 2.13.1 is there....

Note the Boilerplate though, " It may also include security fixes and other feature enhancements."

I also wonder if this is 'right'. First, to my knowledge, no V2.13.0 was released, so I'd assume this was tested bad, and the version released fixed it.

Another thing I noticed, expanding some info, I see this:

Now this is probably wrong, or the wrong template was used. Doesn't give me any confidence any info there IS correct.

I'll try the BIOS. If it is NOT for the 8940, I hope it will not install!!!

I've had my unit for almost 2 years and installed every update and been in contact with tech support many times the unit has never been stable the entire time I have had it. This is definitely a lemon as far as Dell computers go
