XPS 8940, BIOS 2.6.0 released

XPS 8940 gets another BIOS update with the normal contains reliability and security updates. Seems to work well.

my dell update says im current. How do I manually install this? Direct download?

Best to do a BIOS update from a USB stick, completely outside of Windows.

Download the BIOS 2.6.0 file onto an empty (non-bootable) USB stick. Power PC off completely. Then plug USB into PC and power on. Tap F12 to open the boot menu and select the Flash Update option from the menu...

Keep in mind the PC will reboot itself several times during the update and may even look like it shut off completely and isn't doing anything. Just leave it alone!  Don't power PC off or do anything else until you're safely back at the desktop.

The detailed description of the update only mentions addressing security vulnerabilities, nothing about reliability. Descriptions are usually not very detailed so it is possible that this update addresses other issues.

You cannot roll back to any XPS 8940 BIOS version below 2.2.0 once this version (or higher) has been installed:
