XPS 8940, pre-boot check, no boot?
Hi there,
I am having this problem for sometime now. Whenever I boot up the system and it goes into pre-boot check, after it complete and I press click to continue nothing happens just a blank screen. I had to hard reset the system and if there is no pre-boot check the system will boot up fine.

@Random Her0 - 2000-0712 = fan error speed error
Power off, unplug, and press/hold PC's power button for ~15 sec. Then open the case:
Then close up and re-run diagnostics. If you get the same error again and PC is still under warranty, contact Dell Tech Support about possible replacement fan(s).

After disabling Resizable BAR in bios, the problem is solved. Now the PC will boot up normally after going through "Pre-boot System Performance Check". Maybe driver updates from AMD in the past month is causing this problem.

Does the power button blink when it goes into pre-boot check, or when you press click to continue and it fails? If it blinks, count number of amber and then white because that's an error code.
If it doesn't blink or is solid white, reboot PC and tap F12 when you see the Dell splash screen. Select option to run diagnostics from the menu, including RAM and full boot drive tests. This may take a long time so be patient...
Make note of any error code(s) from the diagnostics, and post it here.

I tried that but my system error 2000-0712 mostly occurs during cold start. So I guess my PC rear fan has some kind of diesel engine

This mostly happens during cold start, in between if I want to restart/ shutdown it will boot up normally skipping the pre boot check. The main problem is that Windows will not boot even after successful diagnostics of pre boot check, for that I had to hard reset system and it will boot up fine. Also I didn't saw any abnormal power button blinking.
Error code is 2000-0712. Every time if pre boot check fails.
