XPS 8950, USB-C connection
Just got my new XPS 8950 desktop, but no HDMI cable only usb-c port but that isn't working to get connection like a hdmi cable. Do I need a hdmi cable or does this usb c port work the same. I have it hooked to monitor and tower but its saying nothing hooked to usn c or hdmi ports on display. Not that good with setting up computers and I am confused as to why Dell would fail to send hdmi cable if it is needed to hook tower to monitor. Very confused what I need or if I even need a hdmi or is the usb c suppose to work to do same as hdmi?

Not fully understand your question/issue. Those cables are coming with the Monitor not the desktop. USB-C display port is usually a feature for Laptop output, not for Desktop outpot. I don't recall 8950 have USB-C to output video. (I could be wrong though). So what I guess is that you need to find a HDMI or DP cable for your monitor.

@Michellekaylee2021 According to the Setup and Specifications, the USB-C port does not support video/audio (see description of USB-C port labeled #6). If your PC does not have a discrete graphics card with a HDMI port and your monitor does not have a DisplayPort input you may need to use a DisplayPort to HDMI adapter. There are passive and active DisplayPort adapters It appears that the DisplayPort on the XPS 8950 is dual-mode so a passive adapter should work.

When purchasing, the computer and monitor are not cross referenced.
You have the XPS 8950 tower with an added Nvidia GeForce GTX 1650 video card. The video card can be seen on the bottom back of the tower. That video card comes with the the following video out ports = DP/HDMI/DVI-D
Now, we need to know from you what specific monitor model you have there to check what video in ports it has?
