4K Blu-Ray player for XPS 15 7590

Is there a Dell-recommended external 4K Blu-Ray player for my new XPS 15 7590? I cannot get two different Blu-Ray players to work with it, both give me a "USB malfunction. Device Not Recognized" error number 43. One of the main reasons I bought this 4K laptop was to play concert 4K blu-ray discs.

@brianstephenson  and @ejn63  I have a Pioneer BDR-XD06J-UHD, which works fine.  And it can be powered from a single USB 3.0 port, at least the ones built into my laptops, although it does include a "dual USB" plug in case you plug it into a USB 2.0 port because USB 2.0 only requires 500 mA to be provided, whereas 3.0 requires 900 mA.

There's probably nothing wrong with the ones you've tried other than that if they use a single USB connection to the system, they're not receiving enough power to operate.

The solution to that is either to attach the drive to a powered USB 3.0 hub, or use a cable that connects to two USB ports on the notebook (i.e., a dual-tap cable).

One USB port may not deliver the power needed to run a BD drive.

I own a Dell 15 XPS 7950 with UHD display.  I also purchased a LITE-ON External Ultra-Slim Portable BD Writer, USB 3.0, UHD - Model EB1, and have PowerDvD18 installed but keep getting an SGX not enabled error.  @jphughan how did you fix this?

@mawfia  I never had that specific XPS model, and in fact I never actually used my UHD BD drive to watch movies.  I bought that optical drive because I figured it would probably be the last optical drive I'd ever buy, so I figured I'd get one that supported everything.  But I watch UHD BDs on my home theater system.
