Battery Fault

Anyone else with an XPS 7590 having battery issues? Mine is 3 months old and will not switch on without the AC adapter plugged in. However, when I do plug it in, I get a constant flashing amber light and can hear what's best described as 'hissing' and 'crackling' coming from beneath the keyboard (only noticed this since the battery problem).

Think what i'm trying to ask is; is this a common issue and can it be fixed by resetting a log somewhere, disconnecting the battery, removing the CMOS battery, or so on? Or is my device going to have to go back to Dell?

Hi,

Prajwal here from Dell community forum. I see that you're reaching out to us with battery issues. I checked and found that the system carries Dixons warranty. I would request you to visit Dixons to have the system checked.

I see that you had contacted Dixons and they replaced the battery in the system.

The fact that the system is only 3 months old and is experiencing the sounds you described, which sound rather ominous, and only runs with the adapter plugged in would certainly require a call to Dell tech support. Have you opened the system to look at the battery, the connections and the motherboard? I would have this looked into as soon as possible.

Opened it up and one of the cells in the battery pack is lumpy compared to the others. There also appears to be a slight scorch mark on the bottom cover where the suspect cell is positioned?

I've contacted support for further advice, I'm no expert but the device is defective. I'll post the outcome once I have a resolution in the event someone else has a similar issue.
