XPS 13 9365, rotation lock grayed out, fixed

I recently noticed that the Rotation lock on my Dell XPS 9365 is showing as unavailable / grayed out. Since I had recently updated to the Windows 10 April 2018 Update, I automatically assumed this was a problem and spent some time trying to fix it. I finally came to the conclusion that this is actually a conscious design decision by Microsoft, Intel, and/or Dell that I think was recently introduced. See, when the XPS 13 is in a traditional laptop configuration, the Rotation lock button is disabled and the screen orientation does not change no matter how you hold it. However, if you have the XPS 13 in a tent mode, or any mode where the keyboard is folded back to some degree, the Rotation lock button becomes available and the screen orientation does change accordingly. Hope that saves someone time when they see this is a problem, when it really isn't.
