Dell XPS 15 9560 Battery Swollen

Hi,

Is it true that Dell battery is not covered under warranty? I know I my laptop is out of warranty, but I can extend.

This laptop is by far the most expensive one I have ever bought, but this is the earliest I ever had an issue this big.

I know the 9550 had a battery issue and recall, were also replaced when out of warranty. Reading other forums, this doesn't seem like an uncommon issue with the XPS 15 line. I have also been told that other Dell customer care reps replaced batteries out of warranty for other line than 9550, but not in Canada.

Anyone else had this issue? Laptop is only 2 years old.

Regardless of system warranty, the battery warranty is 12 months.  Even if you extend the system warranty, it will indeed not cover the battery.

If it's swollen, carefully remove it from the system and get it out of your home or office - then replace it with a new one.  The system will function on AC power in the meantime, but get rid of the swollen battery immediately.
