Dell XPS discharging battery when off

Hello. I know perfectly well that the XPS 9350, 9360, 9550, 9560 and Precision 5510, 5520 series laptops are discharged in the off state when the device is connected to the USB Type A connector. After two days of being off, my Dell XPS 15 9560 laptop discharges at 7-8 % if something is connected to the usb connector. PowerShare is disabled in BIOS. All my acquaintances who have XPS laptops confirm that their laptops are also running low. If you look at the motherboard of my laptop, you can see that the usb type A connectors have not 9, but 10 pins soldered to the board. One of the contacts is brought out to the end of the connector, and when I insert a cable into it, say, because of this contact, the power distribution circuit is activated to supply voltages of 3 V and 5 V to the devices. But the PowerShare feature is disabled. If you wrap tape around the metal connector of the USB plug and insert it into the connector, the battery will not drain even if you turn on PowerShare. The laptop does not react to such a plug, and the smartphone does not charge. The question is, what should I do in order for the laptop to function normally. I need my laptop to charge my smartphone when PowerShare is on, and not discharge when PowerShare is turned off when something is connected to the connector. I do not want to remove the USB devices every time I turn off the laptop.

I'm sorry, can you please tell me what exactly is your laptop model? It's just that the same problem can be with the XPS 9570 and 7590 models. I have not held these models in my hands, but I would like to know if these two models have the same problem. What helped me was to remove the motherboard, unfold it, remove the metal shield from the USB connector, bend the contact, and wrap it with tape. The truth is now the PowerShare function does not work. But I've already come to terms with it. Better to let the laptop not run out of power when it is turned off. For myself, I concluded never to buy Dell equipment again. I also had a Dell UltraSharp monitor. When using it, I got upset, handed it back to the store and bought a monitor from another brand. Dell's equipment, as for me, is expensive beautiful problematic Chinese rattles that from time to time I want to smash against the wall.

I have a Dell xps 9530 and the exactly the same discarging problem . Found a Dell utility named "Dell Command configure wizard" with access to a lot of BIOS settings  that aren't available from standard interface.

Probably with this tool is possible to reach the goal , but is quite complicate for me because there are something like 200 set to understand

It seems that all Dell laptops that have this special USB Type A connector on board the motherboard are running out of power. Such a connector was in the Dell XPS 15 L521x laptop (2012 release). And it must be assumed that this problem has been going on since 2012. And "smart" Dell engineers didn't even scratch their butts to solve this problem. What else did I notice. If you disconnect the CMOS battery, and then connect it back, and connect the main battery, then insert anything into the USB type A connector, an automatic start will occur, the laptop will turn on. But it doesn't have to be that way. Automatic start should occur if, after resetting the CMOS, you connect the power supply to the laptop and plug it into a power outlet. Dell is aware of the discharge issue, but nothing has been done with the BIOS. I assumed this was a hardware feature of laptops.

hi, I removed the msata module and with an adapter mounted it as a normal sata drive.
Now the discharge of the laptop is about 4% every 24 hours with a USB key inserted in
the USB port of the left.
Previously in the same conditions it drains 100% in one night.
It would seem to work fairly well.
If you want to try it too, then let me know. Thank you

Hello. Thank you for your help. But my laptop does not have an mSATA connector. I have an SSD drive installed in the M.2 slot. My laptop is discharged in a day by 4% per day, and this does not suit me at all. I juggled components on my laptop, turned it off, watched what happened. When removing the Wi-Fi module, the battery began to discharge twice as fast. Thanks for the tip about Dell Command | configure. I looked at the settings before the new year, and marked some as those that might help. But for now I will not modify the BIOS. I have an idea that the RTC battery, which has a low voltage, is to blame. We have motherboards manufactured by Compal. It is known that some laptops on motherboards from this manufacturer do not turn on at all if the CMOS battery has a low voltage. And I don't know what other problems there might be. Notebooks do not turn on even if a large battery is connected and charged, and the power supply is connected to the laptop. Such is the "magic". My laptop has a small 18 mAh ML1220 RTC battery. In your case, there is a 220 mAh CR2032 battery. It's hard for me to get a new ML1220 battery right now. If you want, you can replace the CR2032 on your laptop. In my case and yours, the batteries have red and black wires to connect to the motherboard, and therefore difficulties can arise. In order to remove the CR2032 you will need to first remove the Wi-Fi module. Here is an instruction just in case, see STEP 17.

I don't know if this will help or not, but you can try. I have one important question for you. When did you notice that the laptop battery is draining when turned off? It was a long time ago? How did you start using your laptop? If the battery began to discharge immediately, then most likely the RTC battery is not to blame. Thank you for attention.

Hi,
sorry but I bought this laptop in September and it already had this problem so
I don't know how old it is. I checked the RTC battery, it is marked 2015, measured
with a Fluke multimeter it is still at 3.22 v connected to the m.b ..
I think this is not the problem.
