Fingerprint sensor not working on Dell XPS 13 7390 in Linux.
Basically, as the title says, I have a Dell XPS 13 7390, and the fingerprint sensor is not recognized properly in Linux. It is detected, and the product name is reported, but it is not recognized as a fingerprint sensor, and the fingerprint options in Gnome do not appear.
The corresponding entry from lsusb is:
Bus 003 Device 002: ID 27c6:532d Goodix FingerPrint
Is there a solution to this problem?

A Google search seems to show that no drivers are available yet. This has been an ongoing problem for some time now. This site has more information. It appears to be an issue with Goodix not supplying a driver as of yet.

Hmm. That's a shame. Hopefully Dell will choose a different fingerprint reader supplier next time. It looks like Goodix is notorious online for having really poor compatibility. This is my second XPS, and both have had annoying compatibility problems. I can only take so many Linux compatibility problems before I give up on Dell and order one of those fugly System 76 laptops. It seems like Dell is sincere in trying to support Linux on their laptops, but they miss the mark a lot.
