Keyboard only works intermittently - Dell D6000 docking station and Dell XPS 15 laptop

I have a SteelSeries Apex 100 keyboard connected to a Dell D6000 docking station which is used for a Dell XPS 15 laptop. The keyboard sometimes works. But the lights on it will flash after a short period and then it won't work unless it is disconnected and re-connected. Sometimes it has to be disconnected and re-connected several times to work. Sometimes it will only work for one or two characters after being connected and then have to be re-connected again. Sometimes while typing it will start pumping out the same letter continuously.

Alright. Please continue to test your second keyboard and let us know if you face a similar issue.

I have switched to another keyboard plugged into the D6000 and that has been working fine for an hour.

For the Steelcase I should add that it works fine if directly connected to laptop, but I had problems (not to the same extent) when plugging it in via a USB hub. The keyboard would have to be unplugged and reconnected if it hadn't been used for a while.

Hi, since the USB keyboard works fine and the issue is only with the Steelcase, I would suggest contacting their manufacturer for support.

I have the same issue, but it happens regardless of keyboard. Due to the intermittency, it's easy to mistake your own actions (like plugging in a keyboard) for solving the problem. ... For example, my keyboard was working, but my mouse was not. I replugged the mouse, and it started working, and the keyboard stopped. I just worked around everything by directly plugging into the laptop (and not using the dock) for quite a while now.
