No custom user settings for charging in BIOS
Hi,
I have a DELL XPS 9350, have had it for about 2 years.
The battery was starting to show its age, so I got it replaced, supposedly with an original Dell Battery. Since this was done, I no longer have the option of custom user settings for charging the battery in the BIOS. I can select custom settings in Dell's power manager, but they are ignored.
Any idea what's the cause of this? Could the battery (if faulty, badly connected or possibly a fake) be the cause?
Some info which may be useful: in the power manager, under more info, it says the manufacturer is SMP (which is fine for Dell, I think), the BIOS version is 1.9.0.
Any help will be appreciated.

Hi sivanbh,
Thanks for posting. Apologies that your system is not performing as expected.
Unfortunately, Dell can not support systems with 3rd party batteries installed.
If the system is under warranty, please contact me privately. Be sure to include your personal information (name, address, telephone, email) and your computer's service tag number in your message. Thanks.
If there is no warranty, then you could contact our Out of Warranty team to get a quote for a paid service call -http://dell.to/1vnT6CQ

Maybe I was not clear.
I am not asking for a fix or support (yet). All I am asking is if the issue I have described could actually result from the battery (in which case I accept it is not Dell's responsibility to help me out) or not.
The reason I am asking is that, intuitively, I think a battery is very passive and does not control the way it is charged, the system it is installed in controls the charging. If this assumption is correct, then the problem has nothing to do with the battery change, and I should ask Dell for help, rather than then technicians who installed the battery.
So - can the battery somehow be the source of the issue?

Have you checked the settings in the Dell Power Manager?
