Second internal hard drive - DELL XPS 15 9520 series (2022)
Hello,
I've pre-buy questions regarding DELL XPS 15 9520 series (2022).
1. Is there an option to add a second internal hard drive?
2. How many M.2 PCIe ports (to install hard drive) has DELL Dell XPS 15 9520 series?
3. And if there is an option to install a second hard drive, would it be M.2 PCIe 2280 or 2230 size?
4. If there is an option to install a second hard drive, what maximum capacity of the hard drive I would be able to add?
I would be grateful for any help. Thank you.

Dell's specifications say you can add 2230 or 2280:
M.2 2230 solid-state drive
PCIe Gen3.0x4 NVMe, up to 32 Gbps
Up to 256 GB
M.2 2230 solid-state drive
PCIe Gen4.0x4 NVMe, up to 64 Gbps
Up to 256 GB
M.2 2280 solid-state drive
PCIe Gen4.0x4 NVMe, up to 64 Gbps
Up to 4 TB
Crucial shows some compatible 2280 drives. You can go up to 4 TB.
Follow the disassembly and reassembly steps in Dell's Service Manual.
Look on YouTube for videos showing disassembly of your model. But, be cautious with them, as some use steps or methods that are not appropriate. Use the videos to add to your understanding of what to do, but follow the steps in Dell's manual.
Whenever touching components or working inside a computer, wear a grounded wrist strap, also called anti-static wrist strap, ESD wrist strap, or ground bracelet. I know many people do such work without this, but it's a cheap and sensible precaution. Rest the laptop on an anti-static mat or at least a reasonable alternative such as corrugated cardboard.

Yes, there are two M.2 PCIe x4 slots. Yes, I believe you can mix them.
Note that if the laptop was originally ordered and delivered with a single drive, there will not be a heat sink cover for the second drive. You will need to buy that separately. They are available on Amazon and elsewhere.

Thank you for your swift reply.
Just to make sure. DELL XPS 15 9520 series (2022) has two M.2 PCIe slots for SSD, right? And I can install two SSD M.2 PCIe drives (both can be M.2 2280, or both M.2 2230 or mixture one M.2 2280 and the second M.2 2230), I'm I right?

That's great, once again a big thank you for your help.
I wasn't sure about the SSD drive options for DELL XPS 15 9520 series (2022), as I called the Dell Support in Poland, and they've told me that I can install the second SSD hard drive, but it can be only the M.2 2230 up to 256 GB, but on YouTube I've seen people installing both SSD M.2 2280, that's why I was confused.
And I'll definitely buy a heat sink cover for the second hard drive, as the DELL XPS 15 9520 series (2022) which I would like to buy is sold only with one SSD hard drive.

I am on my second 9520 after 3 months. I have 100 hours trying to fix issue with external monitors. 3 motherboards, 2 docking stations, shipped to resolution center. Blinking external monitors.
On the new refurbished computer the monitors no longer blink. The desktop resets ever 4-10 reboots so I have to go back and reset up the computer.
If you bought this you should extend the warranty immediately. If you havent go with a different family of dell. I have had nothing but problems.
