Upgrade Dell XPS 13 to Windows 10 Pro

Question

I own a XPS 13 9310 but I want to upgrade to Windows 10 Pro to take advantage of some of the features (such as the Sync Centre and HyperV). From searching there are problems with upgrading the XPS (for example here and here). Is this still the case? Has anyone upgraded to Windows 10 Pro via the Windows Store without issue?

The only thing the upgrade does is activate the features of 10Pro -- they're already installed on your system. No reinstallation, no new drivers are required - just enter the license key you purchase from the Windows store and the system will automatically be upgraded to 10 Pro.

@Larnu  I have personally done this, and although it was a few years ago, it worked just as described in this Microsoft article.  I'm not sure what happened with the people there who reported problems.  I wonder if Microsoft now requires you to link your Windows logon to your online Microsoft account?  That wasn't the case back when I did it, but again that was a while ago.

It seems to me those threads point to issues with the license keys -- not Windows 10 Pro itself, which further point toward someone buying a license key other than from Microsoft directly.

A key purchased direct from Microsoft will work without issue -- and if you have issues, they will support the installation of the license key.

There are plenty of third parties selling keys -- that's where the problematic installs arise.

I know how to upgrade, but as I linked to (example), the concern I have is that there seems to be many (with other XPS laptops) that have had problems doing so. As such, I don't want to spend money on something that isn't going to work due to some odd Dell problems.
