Which SSD for my DELL XPS13
I have A dell XPS 13 laptop:
main specs:
338-BJVE : 7th Generation Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-7200U (3MB Cache, up to 3.1 GHz)
400-AONJ : 256GB M.2 PCIe SSD
--- 8D5HT SSDR, 256G, P34, 80S3, TECHNICAL SHEET, XG4
I want to buy a new (bigger) SSD (512GB or bigger)
Which 'type' of DDS do I need (looking at this page) https://tweakers.net/categorie/674/solid-state-drives/producten/
I assume it's a M.2 80MM with PCI Express 3.0 4x?
so one of these?
Please advise.

Yes, M.2 2280 size. I believe that's the only available size for the 970 Evo. Be aware however that the XPS 13 9350 and 9360 models (you have the 9360) run their NVMe interface in power saving mode, not max performance mode. This is not a user-configurable option; it's set that way by the firmware. As a result, your SSD sequential read/write performance will be about 1.8 GB/s max, even if you buy an SSD that can go faster. It's an unfortunate bottleneck, but I just wanted to let you know so that you're not surprised if you've been reading benchmarks of various SSDs and later discover that it doesn't perform as expected in your system. That said, I stand by my recommendation for the 970 Evo because even if you won't be able to use all of its performance, I'm still a fan of Samsung SSDs in general compared to competitors. But if you wanted to, you could instead try to save money by looking for a slower NVMe SSD so that you don't end up paying for performance you won't be able to use anyway.

I've read that the dell XPS13 (9360) supports SATA and PCIe so I can choose between these.

so maybe the https://tweakers.net/pricewatch/1126249/crucial-mx500-m2-1tb.html is also an option?
Is this correct and if so, is the Crucial (taken into account the 'speed-limiter') much slower in this laptop?
I also saw in the specification-document of the dell XPS13 (9360) that the MAX capacity of the SATA disk is 128GB? is that for sure, so a SATA disc > 128GB does not work?

Hi. I bought the evo and followed this procedure: https://www.laptopmag.com/articles/upgrade-dell-xps-13-ssd But I have a problem. When placing the EVO 970 in the laptop, the BIOS recognized it, but the backup program (Macrium Reflect.) does not see the new disk so I cannot select the evo as a target. I tried another backup program (backupper) but this is having the same problem. Any idea?

Sorry to piggyback in this thread, but I have a XPS 13 9343 and was wondering which m.2 22801TB SSD is the best to buy as I know there is Crucial MX500, Samsung 860 evo, WD Blue 3D nand and 2D nand (I don’t know the difference between 2D and 3D) and those are the main choices on Amazon.

I've found the 970 EVO to not work (XPS 13 9350) -- the system does not recognize the drive in any way. The 960 EVO works well, though you may need to remove the recovery partition to be able to change partition sizes etc.

That's a royal shame. I was hoping to buy the 970 EVO as it's currently a fair bit cheaper than the 960 EVO. I've heard a few times now that the 960 EVO is compatible with the XPS 13 9350 (which I also have) but I've not seen such reports with the 970. Did you get it to work in the end?
