XPS 13 7390 2-in-1 Touchpad stops working after sleep

Occasionally the trackpad on my  XPS 13 7390 2-in-1 stops working when I resume from sleep.

A restart always fixes this issue.

It's done it since I got it 3 months ago.

I am facing the same issue. This is just bad. I hear its problem with drivers. But that is just unimaginable, after purchasing such a high-end laptop.

I'd like to know if there is a resolution for this.

Thanks!

I've been working with @DELL-Cares via PM to get this resolved. @calsuluc hope this helps you

While experimenting, for a random check, I thought I'd change the trackpad sensitivity to "Most Sensitive". That seems to have fixed it, but it also stops the trackpad from disabling while I am typing.

I am happy with my solution for now, but it does seem like a driver issue Dell needs to look at.

It's probably the touchpad taking too long to be powered up again after powering down.

thanks @Land Rover Carawagon , I too am working with dell cares. Will see if anything pans out.

Good that the trackpad sensitivity fix is working for you. I don't want to try that however, I am looking for a permanent fix without changing settings. This is like we've never moved on from these driver issues since the 90s with win98.

Hi,

I asked a DELL engineer for help. And my problem is fixed. @Land Rover Carawagon @calsuluc

I hope it could help you.

Updating this driver below, (if installed, choose repair and restart the computer)

https://dl.dell.com/FOLDER05640483M/1/Intel-Serial-IO-Driver_GDXJW_WIN_30.100.1916.1_A00.EXE

I sleep and wake up my computers many times. And the touchpad said he feels very well!

Cheers

Hi,

Since we haven't got the requested video clip, checking you had recieved this message.

Have you tested the screen flickering in BIOS? Also, it would be recommended to try it in the safe mode and share a video clip of flickering encountered in BIOS or Safe mode. ^PM

I admin 8x XPS 13 7390 2-in-1 ..... i have another 6x on order for delivery. And this issue is real headache and im hours deep on troubleshooting with no resolution

This issue affect ALL laptops. Doesn't matter if using the original Dell windows image or fresh Win10 install from USB with Windows Update only drivers. I have spent hours messing with power settings in "device manager" and tried all drivers - nothing fixes this issue.  It's anecdotal, but it seems worse (happens 100% of the time) on latest drivers and BIOS.

I have just tried Touchpad - Most Sensitive on a couple of machines. im not expecting it to work but thought i would exhaust everything.

DELL - please FIX this driver issue!!

I have had the same problems with a Logitech M535 Bluetooth mouse and the touch pad. Selective disabling of the right component in the hardware chain fixes it for me on Windows 10 2004, BIOS 1.4.

This is the one I am using for the touchpad:

Whoops. Grabbed the wrong screen capture.

This is what I am using for the mouse:

The touchpad setting is here:

This is the touchpad:

But there are no power management options there. There is on the I2C HID Device:

But that didn't work for me. It runs on the  Intel(R) Serial IO I2C Host Controller - 34E9 as you can see here:

Which is what I have disabled for the touchpad to stay working after sleep. Been running 4 or 5 days now and seems to wake up reliably each time now.

YMMV

Hi JFWG,

Did you get an chance to try the steps suggested as mentioned in the private message?

Also, we are unable to view the image, could you please upload it on any cloud service like google drive/dropbox and share the link with us? Thank you!

I've got the same problem with the touchpad since the Windows 10 build 2004 upgrade.  I've seen other folks on Reddit with the issue as well.  Tech support had me send my laptop in to have the touchpad replaced.  This obviously did not fix the issue.

Same issue here.

To be clear, you are saying that "this", being replacing the touchpad, did not fix the issue?
