XPS 13 9300 - Does fingerprint reader work on linux?

According to Dell's website, support for the fingerprint reader, even for the Linux pre-installed version will come on mid 2020.

Hi just about to purchase, fed up with Windows - any chance you could link to a reliable article to wipe wimdows and install 20.04? Newbie at this so clueless  For some reason Windows version is cheaper in UK than the Ubuntu one

@broughy100 Just put Ubuntu onto a USB stick, go into the BIOS and disable Intel Rapid Store (switch it to AHCI mode), and finally boot from the Ubuntu USB stick as per the install instructions. You must do it in that order because Windows wont boot to be able to create the USB stick if you switch to AHCI mode, but you can switch back.

If you want windows and Ubuntu at the same time:

• You can follow a guide (https://www.partitionwizard.com/partitionmagic/enable-ahci-after-win-10-installation.html) to switch your install of windows to AHCI, then go in the BIOS and switch to AHCI, and then you can install Ubuntu as per the normal instructions.
• You can switch to AHCI, reinstall windows, and then install Ubuntu as per the normal instructions.

Face recognition works great but boy does it wreck battery life (even when closed/suspended). I had to uninstall it but it was nice to know it worked in Ubuntu 20.04.

As we all know, the webcam is in the absolute worst spot on any laptop ever made.

I have a XPS 13" 7390 2-in-1. Are these packages supposed to work in my Goodix fingerprint reader as well?

This is the device id, I don't have a 9300, so I don't know if it's the same:

I installed the suggested packages anyway, but no avail:

I recently downloaded the drivers mentioned by @DanielNTX but found my fingerprint sensor on my xps wasn't supported. Is there a timeline for support for the 0x27C6 0x5395 model goodpix fingerprint sensor?
