XPS 13 9305, webcam error 0xA00F42A0

Hi,

The webcam on my out of warranty XPS 13 9305 does not work. When I try to use the camera app I get this error:

0xA00F42A0 (0x80004003)

It also does not work with Zoom, Teams, or any other apps. I have followed all the steps suggested by this article:

Resolving the We can’t find your camera, 0xA00F4244 error

But the problem hasn't been resolved. After I enable the camera in the BIOS, the camera works for a second before it stops working. So I don't think there is a problem with the hardware.

Many of the new XPS laptops at my company had similar issues. Dell engineers were coming out and replacing screens left, right and centre to no avail.

This morning, this Windows update appeared and fixed them all in one swoop!

2023-02 Cumulative Update for Windows 11 Version 22H2 for x64-based Systems (KB5022913)

Try it yourselves - good luck!

Thanks for suggesting this solution. I tried the update and nothing changed wrt the camera. At this point I have given up really. For now, I will buy a webcam. But the lesson I've learnt is not to buy Dell again. Dell support @DELL-Cares  has been absolutely disappointing.
