XPS 13 9350 blank screen
Hello!
I have a Dell XPS 9350 with the iris 540. All of a sudden the screen went blank. After some digging it turns out that the problem is fairly common and disabling the iris 540 driver is the only temporary fix. The laptop is already out of warranty so giving it to dell is really not an option.
All of the drivers are fully updated too. Diagnostics show no errors
Also tried to install the bios, chipset and the graphics driver which was a solution given on a few posts but that didn't work either.
Really wasn't expecting it from such an expensive device
Any help would really be appreciated. Thanks!

Hi Ashh1317,
Thanks for posting. Apologies that your system is not performing as expected.
Have you done any diagnostics testing on the computer?
Does the screen work with an external monitor attached?
Please perform a systems diagnostics by pressing F12 at startup or by running Dell Support Assist. Make a note of any errors and post back.
Here is some information from the Dell knowledge base you may find helpful:

I did run diagnostics. There were no errors and I do not have an external monitor so I can't really say

Please download Ubuntu 18.04 and test from USB Stick - does it work?
I think you have to wait for BIOS update...

Just saw that there is a new bios update. version 1.7.0.
Flashed that and then enabled the iris 540 driver. Still does not work.

Ubuntu 18.04 does not seem to be available for download yet. I will try 17.10 as soon as possible. I hope it works!
Extremely unacceptable behavior by Dell. The least they could do is support their flagship device for a few years.
