XPS 13 9360 touchpad and display issues

About a year ago I had my XPS 13 9360 repaired, because the touchpad was acting erratically and it was a hardware issue. Now, a year later, I'm having problems again and my warranty just expired february this year.

The problems I'm having

1) Touchpad stops working randomly or when the laptop is lifted by the frame.

2) Recently, occasionally the screen becomes garbled, like a bad graphics connection, i.e. artifacts all over the screen. Sometimes just a brief artifact in a random spot, sometimes a completely garbled screen (happened today, this is why I decided to post about it now).

I am dual booting Windows 10 and Fedora 27, but it happens in both OSes.

In Linux, when the touchpad stops working, I can catch the following message in the dmesg output:

What I have tried

A previous run of the Diagnostics fails on the PS2 and HID parts of the mouse. What further leads me to believe this is a hardware issue is that it is easy to make the touchpad stop working by just lifting the laptop. Stress on the frame from lifting seems to make it stop working.

The keyboard works fine and external mice are no problem either.

 

 

I am posting here in the hope someone can help me out, because I prefer text-based support, because of my schedule and I've had great support the previous time I posted here for the same reason. Finally, officially my warranty expired earlier this year (february), is there still hope left?
