XPS 15 9560 - Battery is failing

I purchased this laptop (XPS 15 9560) in January of 2018. Three days ago, my warranty expired. Today, I get blinking amber lights. Dell diagnostics shows that the battery is failing.

Should the battery be failing days after the warranty expires? A bit over 1 year?

It all depends on a number of variables. Batteries generally last 1 - 2 years or about 400 recharge cycles. Also if the battery is plugged into the charger for long periods of time that will shorten the battery life.

Thanks for the response. I wish that this link was available before I purchased this laptop. I definitely would not have purchased this had I seen it. Live and learn, I guess.

400 recharge cycles (1-2 years) seems too short for the price of this laptop. I generally expect adequate performance for 2 years, with degraded performance afterwards. This includes the battery life.

Like the OP of that post, for the price of this laptop, I expected better quality from it.
