XPS 15 9570 Docking Station Recommendation
Hello all,
I am currently looking into getting a docking station for my XPS 15 9570 (i7-8750H, 16GB RAM, 256GB SSD, FHD non-touch). My setup consists of two Asus VA24EHE Displays (1080p, 75Hz), a USB keyboard, a USB mouse, and a headset that connects via a 3.5mm jack.
Along with my new setup I had purchased a cheaper USB-C hub, but performance has been less than great when using this. Would a Dell docking station improve my performance? I have been doing research and have heard that docking stations are superior to smaller expansion hubs in this way.
As of right now, the options that I am considering are the WD19 and the WD19TB. Since my displays are only 1080p/75Hz, would I be fine with the WD19? I am on a tighter budget since I am a student. If the WD19TB has any significant benefits I would be willing to consider it but I don't want to spend money that I don't have to. Attached below is the "Supported and Recommended Docks" list by Dell; you can see my model indicated. Any and all advice is welcome and appreciated!

@SpicyLander Not sure if the WD19 would have enough extra bandwidth to run dual 1080p at 75 Hz. My guess would be yes, but that is a guess. Is the extra 15 Hz really important to you though? You can run a 75 Hz display at 60 Hz no problem, FYI.
As for the WD19TB, aside from allowing much higher end display setups by tapping into 4x more display bandwidth than the regular WD19, the only other difference is that it includes a “downstream” TB3 port for attaching another Thunderbolt peripheral, such as a TB3 SSD or eGPU. Given that the XPS 15 9570 only has a single USB-C/TB3 port, if you had a regular WD19 plugged into that, then you’d have no way to plug in a TB3 peripheral at the same time. Do you care about that?
If you do with the WD19 though, make sure you get the 180W version with 130W power delivery, not the 130W version with 90W power delivery. The fact that 130W appears in the specs of both variants has led some people to buy the wrong unit.

@fkatz27455 It looks like your post got cut off. But while I can't speak from personal experience with the relevant hardware here, using a WD22TB4 dock and connecting an eGPU to one of its Thunderbolt ports should work fine. Just be aware that the XPS 15 9570 might have only a PCIe x2 interface wired to its internal Thunderbolt controller. I know that the previous 9560 was PCIe x2, and the successor 7590 was PCIe x4, but I can't remember whether the 9570 was the last of the x2 design or the first of the x4 design. Either will work, but you might find that your eGPU performance lags a bit if you're on x2.

@jphughan I know this an old thread but wanted to ask since you had a line right in the direction I am going. I have an XPS 9570 and want to get an external docking station. I also have an eGPU. I was looking at the WD24 thunderbolt connection to my 9570, then using one of the two thunderbolts on the WD24 to my eGPU. Any
