XPS 15 9570, Windows 10 Freezes
I have a couple month old XPS 15 9570 running the updated Windows 10 and I've been experiencing random freezes. The system hangs and I need to restart by holding the power button. The scan doesn't show any issues.
I checked the event log and see Event 41 Kernel-Power.
Last crash deposited a memory.dmp file which didn't help me much even with windbg.
Any ideas or help is very much appreciated.
Thanks

I have a similar problem (on windows version 1809 latest build) that started early January. I have tried "everything", swapped to an SSD, different power options, AC adapters, disabled spectre/meltdown patches etc. and all windows registry scans, hardware scans shows now issue. No help in event viewer or memory dumps.
The freezes are random and approx 2 days apart. The system runs flawless until next freezing that requires shutting down with the power button. No I have a older xps (L501X) with a aftermarked battery so my last try is to run just on AC power with the battery removed. Found a similar issue to mine in this tread; https://superuser.com/questions/470542/can-a-faulty-battery-cause-a-laptop-to-crash
If that is the issue a new battery will be purchased, if not a new/used dell precision workstation.

Hi SDMartini,
Thanks for posting. Apologies that your system is not performing as expected.
If the systems diagnostics did not detect any hardware issues, then likely the issue is with a software or driver. Have you run Dell SupportAssist yet? If not, please run it and make a note of any error messages encountered and post back.
When is this happening? During email, internet, or running normal productivity applications? Or is it happening primarily during gaming?
Here is information from the Dell Knowledge Base you may find helpful:
System locks up, freezes or an error occurs.
Fix System Freeze
If you still require assistance and the system is under warranty, you may contact me privately. Be sure to include your personal information (name, address, telephone, email) and your computer's service tag number in your message. Thanks.
If there is no warranty, then you could contact our Out of Warranty team to get a quote for a paid service request.

Thank you for your message. Have you observed any blue screen errors?
What is the BIOS version installed?
Does the system hang when using any application in particular?
Does it happen irrespective of the AC adapter being connected or not?
Have you tried any overclocking feature?
Disconnect all external peripherals & check the system.
For my reference, please click on the message tab next to your avatar– click “New Message” & search for my Dell username (Sreejith R) & send a private message with the service tag, registered name & email address.
How to locate the service tag

Thanks for the reply.
I've run the dell support diags from the app, the dell online ones, the bios diags as well. None have revealed any issues.
Typically it freezes running minimal apps. Not taxing the system at all - email and some web browser. I don't have any games.
I do have a D3100 dock that I have used and am I removing that from my system now to see if that eliminates the issues. I have seen other posts about freezes with dell docking stations involved, and there is a recent one that seems closely related...which I hope gets fixed soon. It is extremely frustrating hate having a new laptop and dock station and having it freeze randomly.
I purchased my system late last year so it is under the original warranty. And for how long I kept my last system, I purchased extended warranty.

Thanks for the reply. Mine is a new system and new battery. I run off AC power just about all of the time so I doubt it is the battery.

Thanks for the reply.
I downgraded my bios to 1.6 from 1.7 to see if that was the issue. It froze with 1.6 as well.
You can see my response to the previous post as well for additional info.
It does not appear to be application related. It is on AC power. I have not done any overclocking at all. The system is basically fresh from purchase which is why this is so frustrating.
I'm checking now without the d3100 docking station. Hopefully that is the culprit and I can fix that somehow.

I also have the same problem. The system would BSOD with a WHEA UNRECOVERABLE ERROR. I disabled c-states and other bios related enhancements and now the system freezes rather than BSOD. All the diagnostics tests show now hardware issues. Frustrating!

I am having exactly the same issues as SDMartini.
Laptop about 7 months old now with regular BSOD since Feb. Normally 5 or 6 per week.
System and drivers updated. Only ever had crashes when the system is on AC power. Not working the system very hard, not gaming etc.
I also note that there have been regular driver and BIOS updates, so is this a know issue or should I just give up and return seek a hardware exchange?

Same problem here. Experiencing random freezes once or twice a week.
Checked everything. Nothing comes up using Dell Support Assist. BIOS and drivers are updated.
Did you find a solution?

It's clear they'd rather wait until all our warranties expire rather than fix the problems we are experiencing.

HI to everyone,
same problem here with a Dell XPS 15 9570 i9, about 10 months old, and I have found no solution for it...it is just frustrating.
