XPS 15 9570 - new yet so many problems

I bought a new Dell XPS 15 two weeks ago , but I'm really not satisfied as it comes with a lot of problems:

  1. The keyboard skips keystrokes (like 1 on 5)... I just can't type text! How can Dell send me such a product? Before sending they could have open the laptop, test the keyboard, and the problem is obvious. I had to browse through forums to get to know that Intel "Panel Self-Refresh" option should be disabled, and indeed that fixed it (and seems like it sometimes re-enables by itself...). How come Dell does not send me an email, or call me, or send me a notice with the computer, to let me know the system needs a fix... it's ridiculous.

  2. I didn't buy this laptop for gaming, but just out of curiosity I tried running Quake Champions. Whenever a new match starts, it lags for the first 30 seconds, unplayable, like it still needs to load the map or something. Is this normal? I thought the GeForce GTX 1050 Ti should be powerful enough to run recent games.

  3. I ran Support Assist several times before in order to update drivers and the Bios. But now, SupportAssist program doesn't launch anymore. I tried to reboot the system but when I click on SupportAssist, nothing happens... no windows appear.

  4. When I plug in a USB-C cable in the USB-C/Thunderbolt port, the keyboard again skips keys, and seems very laggy. However, that only happens sometimes when no device is connected at the other end of the cable.

  5. I bought an Anker USB-Ethernet adapter and when plugged in, after a few minutes, it disconnects. I have to unplug and replug it, and then it seems to work for a long time. (Might be Anker's problem but at this point, I highly doubt it...).

  6. When plugging an Asus ZenScreen through USB-C, Windows recognizes 3 screens instead of 2.

This computer doesn't work as expected out-of-the-box and requires tweaking. The first problem mentioned is just unacceptable. Just type "dell xps 15 9570 skipping keystrokes" in Google and a lot of users are encountering this issue for months. Dell should know about this problem as so many users are reporting it for months, yet Dell still send me a broken laptop for 1.800 €.

Overall I'm very disappointed to encounter so many problems for such an expensive computer, which is supposed to be premium.

If Dell's return policy is the same as in the US, you're within your return window -- return the system for replacement (or, since it sounds like you will never be happy with this model, a refund).

Get a refund. Don't expect them to fix it
