XPS 15 9650 charging problem. Power adapter not recognised but charges off USB-C

My XPS 15 9650 doesn't recognise any changer - I've tried several, and they all work.

I have also replaced the charging port, so it's not that.

It DOES charge off the USB-C. It does work with the charger if the battery is unplugged.

Does this mean the MB has a fault. If so, does the USB-C use a different circuit, given that works?

Check setup (F2 at powerup).   Look for the AC adapter setting - it should show its power rating.  If it shows unknown, the battery will not charge.

It's one of three things:

The adapter,

The DC input jack,

or the system board itself.

Try another OEM Dell adapter first -- if it doesn't solve the problem, replace the DC jack:

And if that does not solve the issue, replace the system board.
