XPS 15 and Premium Support vs. Premium Support Plus
Hello,
I have read a few reviews that exalt the XPS 15 9560 (XPS). I have read a horrendous amount of complaints and negative reviews regarding both the stability of Dell's products, and Dell’s Support and Customer Services. These facts set the foundation for the following inquiries:
Is the XPS 15 a wise investment?
I am in need of a 15-inch laptop that meets certain criteria. The XPS meets most of the criteria at or above my needs and desired standards. However, as noted above, reaching and maintaining many standards has been a challenge for Dell. Of the included hardware I would be able to change/upgrade, I would select the i7-7700HQ CPU, the Touchscreen, 32GB vs 16GB memory, and the 1TB vs 512GB SSD.
- When ordering an XPS, will I be able to specify the SSD I want – the Samsung PM961.
- Will the bill of sales indicate which SSD was installed?
- Any projections on the XPS’s longevity?
Upgrade to Premium Support (PS)?
As has been well documented, an upgrade from Dell’s standard warranty appears to be warranted.
- Numerous complaints note that an extraordinarily and frustrating amount of time and handoffs needlessly occur when repairs or requests for assistance are made,
-
- Inconsistent, and seemingly sloppy, workmanship and quality of materials are involved in the manufacturing and repair of Dell’s products,
- Dell advertises of the decrease in these issues when a Dell product is serviced under a PS warranty.
-
- Does purchasing a PS warranty alleviate or mitigate any of the problems associated with attempts to obtain services under the standard warranty?
- Does a PS warranty justify its purchase as well as advance the **bleep** and facility of owning an XPS?
Premium Support (PS) vs. Premium Support Plus (PS+)
- Is PS+ worth the extra hundreds of dollars over PS?
-
- I know how to set up data backups, parental controls, etc.
- I will be running my own choice of virus and malware software (after I immediately uninstall McAfee), and can install printers, networks, etc., with no assistance required,
- In the past twenty or so years, I have never dropped a laptop, tablet, cell or smartphone, or a desktop PC. I have never spilled anything on any of these items either.
- Does either also cover hardware repair/replacement?
- Does either provide home/on-site visits by technicians?
Bottom line: Is the XPS worthy to be purchased? Is one of the PS plans required to justify the purchase of an XPS?
Thank you for your time and attention to this matter.

FYI, **bleep** is actually the word "**bleep**." Honest! (Darn those automatic bleeping censors!)

I'll try this again: The bleeped word is "v-a-l-u-e." Or, perhaps stating that the bleeped word is "val-u" or "val-you," or the first syllable of the word "valley" with a "U" as the second syllable will get past the irrational censor.
