XPS 7590 disconnecting USB Attached SCSI

I have an NVME SSD in a Sabrent USB 3.1 enclosure, with a USB C - USB C cable it worked before and still works on another machine. On the XPS it keeps disconnecting upon switching to battery power which did not happen before. However it does not disconnect when connected to a USB A port with a USB C - USB A cable.

The XPS is up to date, bios, motherboard firmwares and windows.
I cannot narrow down the reason of the problem, any help is appreciated.

have you tried looking at power management for your usb root hubs in device manager and unchecking the box for "allow the computer to turn off his device to save power"?

The box is checked to allow the computer to turn of the device to save power but it was working properly before and no settings changed.

At some point on battery power only, it would plug it and it keeps disconnecting and reconnecting forever but connecting it to a USB A port will not do that.

Connecting a USB 3.0 HDD to the USB C port will connect normally.
