XPS 9560 boot time and video issues

Hello,

Since about one month, my XPS 9560 started to behave abnormally.

Every time I boot it up for the first time during a day, it either displays a black screen, either moving TV static-like red lines which appear progressively, become pink and blue, and then nothing else happens.

Then somehow I manage to boot it up successfully by rebooting it many times, using Power+D test many times (which works very well by the way) and randomly plugging and uplugging the power cord.

Once booted up, and having Windows 10 running, I can restart it many times without any issues. Until the next day when the boot problem reappears again.

It also happens sometimes (totally randomly) that while Windows is running, the screen turns black, or even gets "pixelated":

I ran all system diagnostic tests, from BIOS to Dell Support Assist, to no avail - all tests are OK.

At the moment of writing, I have the latest BIOS firmware, latest official Dell-provided drivers, including Intel and NVidia graphic drivers, and latest Windows 10 updates.

My warranty expired 10 days before the problems started.

Please advice,

W

Usually that is either a bad LCD screen, a driver problem, or the LCD cable from the motherboard. Have you tried accessing the cable to see if it is binding or loose? And you stated that even if you get the system running properly, the screen problem can return. That sure sounds like a hardware problem as in screen or more likely cable. Also have you tried to connect an external monitor to see if the problem exists when an external is used? If you move the screen back and forth does the problem return or go away briefly?
